Our Community Outreach
On May 5, 2017, Kenneth and I decided to learn and give back to our community by attending Global Rewind IV at Science World. Upon arriving to the event, we received a warm welcome by volunteers who seemed about our age. After checking in, we continued through Science World and met many other students from different school all over Vancouver. Because there was some extra time before the event started, Kenneth and I explored the area and played games with fellow Gladstone students.
At around 6:30pm, all the attendees were invited into a small theatre, where multiple volunteers reenacted a play about global warming and how we should limit as much waste as possible. They also played a series of videos that showcased others schools across Vancouver showing off their environment saving clubs, which I think is very interesting and I think Gladstone should also have a club that plans events to help out the environment.
We were given free time to adventure off in Science World so Kenneth and I decided to try out everything that was there, whether it would be racing on wheelchairs or taking pictures in a low light shadow booth. At around 8 to 8:30pm, we were offered some snacks and drinks to fuel up so we could participate in a game that was prepared for us. The game was about global warming and how animals and plants are affected by it. Unfortunately neither Kenneth and I won the game but we had a great time. The event was now over as we thanked and said goodbye to the volunteers as we headed out. I would definitely recommend everyone to go to this event because you can have lots of fun while learning!
